Kim Korol Studio

I am a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in ceramics and drawing. I find beauty in things that have been caressed by time, which allows my work to explore the tension between the forces of nature and the efforts of mankind. Contrast arises in my work between nostalgia and clean sophistication: straddling a longing for the past and a form that belongs in the present.

While thoughts of eliminating the noise of our artificial environment guide my hands, my clay vessels seem to erode into their constructed forms, resulting in work that attracts subtle attention. Substantial in size, the work speaks softly. After attaining my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2019 from the Alberta University of the Arts, I moved to Mayne Island and launched Kim Korol Studio, and together with a fellow potter created Mayne Island Clay Works. At the Clay Works gallery and studio, I enjoy creating large ceramic tables and vessels, custom architectural tile, and public art.

My work is gaining critical recognition. Will You Hold My Book Please (a ceramic table) received an Award of Excellence in the 2023 Arts on the Islands - Southern Gulf Islands Regional Art Exhibition.
